Clover is one of the newer manga series made by the ever
famous CLAMP. The setting is a sort of surreal world, revolving around the small
and frail girl named Suu, who isn't quite what she seems. She's a
being known as a four leaf clover, something extremely rare and
powerful. Because of this, her power is feared and she is sealed
off from any kind of human contact. She is top secret and monitored by the government, but wants to be taken to a place that only she
knows about, and the person to take her there is Kakuhiko, a retired soldier.
Clover is based in a world ruled by machinery and technology,
with a kind of surreal/ unreal feel as a whole. It's a world filled with mystery and feels slightly empty. The drawings and the way that the manga is
put together is exactly fitting to this description. There are hardly any
background patterns in the drawings, leaving only the characters without
any extra fluff around them. Drawings are scarce; there are lots and lots of
voids and white spaces in the manga, adding a lot to the overall feel. It's a cool
series with lots of mystery floating around. The drawing style
differing from the usual CLAMP style.
