Peach Girl is a manga about a girl named Momo who lives in a society where people believe that tanned girls are playgirls, spend the whole day at the beach tanning, and sell their bodies. Unfortunately for Momo, she tans extremely easily. She is an amazing swimmer and a lifeguard to boot, but due to her skin tanning so much in such a short amount of time, she no longer swims, always wears long-sleeved shirts outside of her school uniform, and walks in the shade. Momo has had a crush on her friend Toji ever since she was in Junior High. However, she heard that he dislikes girls with dark skin, and therefore has made the resolution to get her skin to be as light as possible.

Now, even more unfortunately for Momo, her "best friend" Sae is the bitchiest that they get. She is a two-faced, lying, scheming little bug. Everything that Momo does, Sae has to do better. She is a very jealous person who always gives Momo a hard time throughout the series. If things between Toji and Momo are looking up, then Sae would be the first one to try and break them apart. Unfortunately, Toji is very naive and believes everything that Sae tells him.

One day, Sae decides to find out who Momo has a crush on. To avoid Sae finding out that it's Toji, Momo tells her that she has a crush on Kiley, the hottest and most popular guy in school. The next thing Momo knows, Kiley is spreading rumors that they've kissed. Momo doesn't want Toji to hear these rumors, but can't do anything about them. Meanwhile, the girls in the school are giving her a hard time about Kiley. When Momo finally gets to go out with Toji, everyone spreads rumors about her going out with two guys and being a playgirl. Will it ever end? Eventually Kiley and Momo get close, and Sae's web of lies and deceptions tighten around the relationship between Momo and Toji. How will things turn out? Who knows.
